Lithuania to allocate a significant fund for DeepStrike weapons for Ukraine

Lithuania will soon transfer the first tranche to support Ukraine’s DeepStrike weapons.

Ukraine’s Defense Minister Rustem Umierov and Lithuanian Defense Minister Laurinas Kasciunas sign a memorandum on financing the production of Ukrainian long-range drones.

DeepStrike weapons are designed to strike the enemy on its territory using air and sea drones.

The Lithuanian side is already working on finalizing bureaucratic procedures, and the first tranche will be transferred in the near future.

This is a long-term agreement under which funding of €10 million has already been agreed.

Lithuania will use these funds to produce Ukrainian long-range weapons, including the Palianytsia project.

In addition to signing the memorandum, the parties discussed key priorities for 2025: training and equipping Ukrainian brigades, providing ammunition and air defense systems, and developing cooperation in the defense industry.

The Palianytsia long-range drone-missile was developed by Ukrainian specialists in the shortest possible time to create a response to Russia’s constant missile attacks.

In total, it took a year and a half to develop, which is very fast in the context of war.

Due to the secrecy of the product, the characteristics of the new long-range weapon are not disclosed, but it is noted that more than two dozen enemy airfields were within range of that missile.

Palianytsia is launched from the ground, and to achieve a long range, the drone missile is equipped with a turbojet engine, which in theory allows for thrust control to achieve the most economical flight speed.

In addition to the airfields, Ukraine will also be able to strike military units, oil refineries, oil storage bases, stationary radar complexes, etc.
